The Altamont Fair is the highlight of the year for the Sundance Kids, and they spend months preparing, refining their skills, and fundraising for the chance to participate. Once fair week arrives, our riders show off everything they have learned in a variety of English and Western classes, ranging from equitation to fun gaming events like gymkhana and obstacle courses. If you have ever visited the fair, you might have seen just how much goes on behind the scenes. Our horses and ponies stay at the fairgrounds all week, and our riders are right there with them, taking full responsibility for their daily care. From early morning feedings and grooming to exercising their animals and keeping stalls clean, the kids work incredibly hard to ensure their horses are healthy, happy, and ready for the ring.
